Originally known as SOS Kids, the Center for Innovative Therapeutics and Diagnostics Foundation (CITDF) was founded to raise awareness and improve the treatment of infections including people with weakened immune systems from cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Through generous charitable donations, CITDF provides funding for education and outreach efforts to save the lives and limbs of these people. CITDF makes an immediate difference in these people’s lives.
CITDF Saves Lives Today
The Center for Innovative Therapeutics and Diagnostics Foundation's Goals:
- To establish a national and international network of expert medical centers for treatment of serious infections
- To respond to emergency calls from the physicians and families of the nation’s people who are suffering from serious infections and respond to these calls with expert guidance, protocol-guided care and, where indicated, transfer of the patient to a center or deployment of a member of the network to the patient’s bedside.
- To implement life-saving novel treatment regimens consisting new agents, combination therapies, adaptive pharmacotherapy, augmentation of host defenses, and adjunctive supportive care through a national and international network of centers of excellence who can care for seriously ill people with life-threatening infections.
- To discover and develop new strategies from the laboratory bench to the patient’s bedside for treatment of life-threatening infections in those with impaired immune systems
- To train a new generation of clinician-scientists to develop and apply new treatments of life-threatening infections in children and adults with impaired immune systems
